The store I worked at for the majority of 2024 washed away along with the majority of the River Arts District in Asheville, NC. So much infrastructure was destroyed, so many towns are just gone, so many lives lost.
As of Oct 19 We are still without clean water, and likely will be without it for weeks. All the while, folks on the team are also providing buildings with alternative plumbing solutions, offering clean running water once again while we wait for massive infrastructure repairs throughout the region.
I’ve been working with Grassroots AID Partnership in West Asheville since Day 4 of the Hurricane Helene aftermath. There we’ve been providing free, healthy, hot meals to the public in a time when areas in Western North Carolina were without cell service, power, and water. Partnering with local restaurants to become satellite kitchens, we are expanding and cooking more and more meals for people in need.
After studying climate disasters for what feels like my entire adult life, I’m experiencing and sharing a reality that feels all too normal for me. Like many others in conservation, environment, and science fields, I’ve shared stories of long term environmental impacts and warned of increasing climate change symptoms for decades.
In a lot of ways, I have been waiting for this. In 2021, Hurricane Ian caused landslide damage along portions of the Blue Ridge Parkway, which was at the time an alarming signal that we were in fact no longer safe even here in the mountains, hundreds of miles away from the Atlantic and Gulf coasts.
authentically photographing life in all its chapters and complexities
Not just your photographer. Your story is incredibly important, and getting to know you and your story plays a huge role in how I document this new chapter of yours in a way that makes you feel like you’re reliving every moment in each photo.
After photographing weddings for ten years in Chicago, Asheville, coast to coast, and across international borders, I’ve been a part of over 350 celebrations covering a wide array of cultures, traditions, and rule breakers. Knowing that every story is different, my goal is to help you plan your day in a way that allows you to have fun, relax, and live in the moment, while still creating photos you and your loved ones will cherish for years to come.
Working in the dark. Sessions are carefully crafted and catered to every family, allowing you to feel comfortable and have fun together. No matter what chapter you’re at in life, I document your story by creating memories through activity and exploration together.
Whether at home and in the back yard, at your favorite playground, in the heart of the city, or out in the woods to run wild, these moments are incredibly fleeting. Family can be gentle and chaotic all at the same time - embrace the unplanned and let’s get it all on camera!
